Why no Gentoo distro forum?
Why isn't there a Gentoo distro forum?
It seems that Gentoo would be one of the most popular distros.

LQ's policy is that in order for a distro to have a dedicated forum, that an official representative from that distro team agree to participate on it. My understanding is that Jeremy has approached Gentoo on more than one occasion about this, but thus far Gentoo has declined to participate.
This question has been asked a number of times in the Distributions forum, please check there for other threads on this same topic -- J.W.

Threads named "Why No Gentoo Forum" are all over LQ. A Search or simply hitting "has this question been asked before" would have given you the answer.
In fact, here you are, I did the search for you.

redhatrosh - as I have mentioned in the past, Gentoo (and in fact all distros) are more than welcome to participate here at LQ.

With a bit of luck, you might even find the odd Gentoo user floating around...

Oh, you'll find plenty of help for Gentoo related issues, there is just currently no dedicated forum.

Jeremy - what kind of status with the Gentoo project would one need in order to have a gentoo forum? If you let me know, I would like to approach the project staff regarding that. I would LOVE to be able to shepherd an effort to get a Gentoo forum here at LQ.

It would be nice to get a gentoo forum here - the forums at gentoo.org are so high-volume, your post can be lost within a couple hours!

It would also be nice to have a Gentoo forum to help expose the non-Gentoo users here to the distribution, and also to permit a wider exchange of ideas.
I realize the Gentoo forums are a valuable resource, but I have devoted my time to LQ.org because of the wider base of clientele. I would love to be able to help the two communities work together.

Matir - someone officially associated with the project needs to make the decision to participate. Feel free to have someone contact me if they need more information.
