Why doesn't the search work?
 
When I try to search, nothing happens. The mozilla logo on my browser will wiggle and squiggle, but the page will not load.

One thing to try is to make konqueror the default web browser. I had to do this to get my web shortcuts working again. I think it has something to do with 'dcop'.

The search server is sometimes overloaded, so you have to be patient after you do a search (especially if you are using a single popular word).
