Why does the 'edit' button offer 'edit/delete' if it can't delete?

Yeah, why?

I hadn't noticed it before, but when you hover the mouse over the "Edit" button of one of your own posts, the words "Edit/Delete" appear in the pop-up whaddyacallit box.

Exactly! Thanks for checking. I believe it's a dialogue box.

My guess:
The underlying software package, out of the box, would allow the delete of a post. The LQ implementation has removed that capability, but missed (or didn't bother) to tweak the tool-tip on the Edit button. There are many elements of the package that have not been implemented or turned off. I'll think of another momentarily.

Thanks for the feedback. The permission for this tooltip isn't checked in real-time.

Which means that delete is enabled for some users?

Maybe, but there's no place for a dialogue. It's one-way, not two-way.

Just picking a nit.

I thought it might be an 'action box' or an 'information box' or something else because it isn't a dialogue but I looked up 'dialogue box' on Wikipedia and this seemed to fit the description.

It's a "tooltip" Implemented with the alt='...' of an img tag.

A dialog box is a pop-up with OK and Cancel (or other options) buttons.

Only admins. I've updated the tooltip.
