Question Why aren't there any Super Moderators?

This is just an informational question: why aren't there any Super Moderators for this forum? Other vBulletin-based forums that I've seen have members called Super Moderators, which is supposed to be a 'lite' version of root. Does the concept simply not apply here, or has jeremy simply never considered it/consdiered it and dismissed it?

Do you find that the current moderation is lacking?

Hardly!

I've noticed on other boards that are close to the same size as this one that having a Super Moderator available provides better moderator coverage. The coverage on this board is excellent, but on other boards the moderators are not always available to moderate. So the administrator promotes one of them to the position of Super Moderator, which gives them the ability to moderate any forum.

In no way am I implying that the moderation on this board is bad/poor/biased/wrong/incorrect. It was merely an informational question........

One is actually being considered to cover in cases when I am not around. I was just interested in your thoughts on the current mod situation. I think we have one of the best mod crews around. Thanks mods!

Quite frankly, with our current Moderators and the great coverage we have among them, we really wouldn't or don't need a supermod really. But I guess Jeremy having a backup "per se" wouldn't be a bad idea when he's unreachable in some cases.

I give two thumbs up for all the Moderators we have here..

Three cheers for the moderators, hip hip hurrah.

I feel that the moderator crew at LQ is the best I've come across. All very helpful and very efficient. But the concept of a super-moderator also sounds good

I am told by my friends that I'm "Super", so does that make me a "Super" Mod?

Oh wait, that's right, it's not super, but "special"

Cool

I'm sure you're quite "super", MasterC - just like every other mod here

A thought: When jeremy does choose to promote one of the amazingly skilled mods here to the post of Super Moderator, I think he should have the title of "operator" and an avatar which looks like this: http://dynamic3.gamespy.com/~ff9/iko...s/supermod.gif

I just think it would be a cool thing to do.

Well that's basically the same image Jeremy uses except its back and white.

But I do believe Jeremy mentioned whoever becomes supermod, well, one day that is, their title will or might be "sudo"...

That's why I did it: the operator is black and white, because his duties are narrowly and well-defined, and root is colorful, because root can do whatever the hell it wants

But "sudo" is also a good title.
