Who deleted my post? And why?

I had made a post in this thread: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi....php?p=4655937

It came exactly after post #14 where TobiSGD wrote that he could find the salix scripts for creating a live CD. My post was:

Quote:

They certainly are online.
https://salix.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/salix/salt/

and the instructions you are referring to are a wiki page. Feel free to edit it. Or at least inform someone that they are outdated (salix mailing list/forums).
My post still shows up if I do a forum search for it, but it's not there in the thread that it's supposed to be.

What happened? Who deleted my post and what was the reasoning behind deleting it? Is deleting posts without warning or reason something to be expected in LQ?

calm down mate, your post wasn't deleted. You can see that somethings broken there, as it's not possible to get onto the 2nd page. I'll get that looked at. Your post should be post 16, not 15, and is on the page that's unreachable.

gapan 04-19-2012 03:06 AM

OK, thanks. There was no way for me to tell that there is another page that is not possible to switch to.

acid_kewpie 04-19-2012 03:09 AM

yes there is, the same way I did. I clicked on the link to the 2nd page and I kept coming back to the 1st page.

gapan 04-19-2012 03:17 AM

But I don't see a link to a 2nd page. At all.

acid_kewpie 04-19-2012 03:21 AM

Hmm, no you can't. Sorry about that. Even odder. Either way though, it'll get sorted soon.

ruario 04-19-2012 04:10 AM

Don't want to hijack but I have noticed that at least one of my posts went missing as well:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...8/#post4656128

I don't remember exactly what I said but if I search for the post I can find a snippet of it in the search results:

Quote:

Yep, sounds about right. I did once time doing a fairly small install of 13.37 (somewhere around 1.5Gb, including a basic build/development environment, plus X and fluxbox) using tagfiles.
However clicking on the link from the search results does not lead me to the post. Could it be that mine is also on a missing second page??

acid_kewpie 04-19-2012 04:15 AM

Again, page 2 is not reachable for me. Jeremy will sort it out when he wakes up no doubt.

ruario 04-19-2012 04:15 AM

I also notice when going to the Slackware forum and searching on the page for "Slackware is poorly described" to find the thread it states that there are 2 replies, when clearly even on the first page there are more than that. So something is broken.

fair enough!

This is interesting. I thought I was imagining things but I got a message telling me the 10 car garage thread had another reply after mine yet I cannot see anything after my post. I know something was posted because if I do a search I know my Ford loving friend cascade9 did actually post something and he starts of by telling me I "missed the point" but there is no post visible to me after mine.

Aquarius_Girl 04-19-2012 05:07 AM

:twocents: To the OP:

I can see your post there since I have set my option to 50 posts per page.
In my case there cannot be any second page for that thread right now.
I consider this helpful in the case of really lengthy threads.

Good tip/work around. That also allowed me to view/find my post. Thanks!

k3lt01 04-19-2012 05:39 AM

Thanks Anisha that worked. Interesting that it only worked at the 50 post per page setting though, it didn't work at the 40, 30, etc.

*spits his moonshine* Them be fighin' words! :p

Interesting that 50 posts per page fixes it. I dont like 50 posts a page and I'll wait a bit and see if things get a proper fix a a few hours or days.

For the record, we never arbitrarily delete content here at LQ. It does appear there is some database corruption that is causing a small number of threads to have broken pagination. I have fixed the two that were linked to in this thread. If you run across others, please report them here and I will fix them. I apologize for the inconvenience.
