Question who are referrers...?

i see top referrers in LQ stats section.
Who are they ?
Do we have to promote a link to others to join LQ ?
How do they know that i'm the one who referred a new member ?

Referrers are people who tell others about LQ. When you join LQ, I believe you're asked if you were referred by another member and are asked to give their username.

so, the new member has to enter the name manually only or he can sign up using a referral link ?

There seem to be referral links, too. A quick search of the site FAQ found this.
