What is the first thing to do when having a problem?

Hello everyone, just a suggestion here. What do you think is the first thing to do when having a problem with Liux?.........

Get on line and post the problem, right!?...

WRONG.

Do a search before posting!

I just finish installing my ESPSON STYLUS C40UX printer and got all I needed after I searched on "EPSON". There is plenty of valuable information already, and your answer may be already there. So, search before you post, and post after you've searched.

Good luck to all.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! As a matter of interest to any newbs reading this: this site contains a wealth of information in its archives. If you cannot find what you want by Googling, try searching here before posting. Believe me, it saves a lot of bad feeling from posting something that has already been answered many, many times before.

Both of these people are very right, and have very good intentions I am sure. But just to add to the other side...

Do not be afraid to start a new post if you do not find what you are looking for, or if you are having problems deciphering what something means that you found during your endevours. And when you do ask a question, and if you do find an answer before someone else answers it, go ahead and state the answer. Most likely someone else is having the exact same problem as you, and may just be waiting for a response to YOUR question. So go ahead and give it to them.

This would be of course, after you follow the above two member's great advice.

Cool

Sometimes people have problems with asking questions. Sometimes they ask for the wrong thing, because they don't know that their problem is in a different place then they think. So questions that were answered many times will happen, even with all people using the "search" button.
Just thinking...

People looking for answers. Also, people looking to answer questions. Pretty much anyone. It gives them an idea on how to post questions, when to post them, and sort of how also.
