What gets prominence? Hardware or software.
Hi:
Suppose I want to write a program to beep the machine loudspeaker (ls) but I know in advance it has a highly non-linear frequency response. Perhaps 1000Hz is audible but 2000Hz is barely audible. But I know some linux applications make it sound loudly. So, perhaps, those programs have found a compromise frequency (I mean the programmers) that fits most ls messing around in desktop computers (I bet the first IBM-compatible machines had good loudspeakers). And now the question. This is a software related question, as it deals with a program to beep the ls. But also a hardware one, as it is related to ls and frequency response. What is the proper forum. Linux-hardware or Linux-software? And, by the way, why is all about installation, hardware or software forums? Most respectfully, E.S. |
If you think a problem is equally weighted between 2 forums, pick one and use the tags system to notify readers that it also has another side.

To me the key is "I want to write a program"---that puts it in software or programming.
e.g where would device drivers go? (You'd think a MOD would know this, right?.....;)) |
Just after submitting I thought about drivers. Thanks so much.
