Do you guys know that even if a person is on your ignore list, you can click their collapsed posts to see the contents?
But also, I don't understand why you express so much Fear Of Missing Out on a few posts. It's not like LQ has a complete monopoly on Linux wisdom. There are other whole forums out there which could also contain lots of useful technical that you're ignoring all of the time!
Personally, I've put a few people on my ignore list, after seeing them spewing a bunch of nonsense (mostly in General). I hardly ever see them show up in technical subforums. But those few times where they did, I checked their posts and it was just more nonsense. On the other hand, I don't follow most of the subforums either.
I tend to avoid political threads here, mainly because I have a blog that tends to be rather political, and this is my place for a break (and to learn and geek out).
I agree that political discussions should be restricted to "General." I do not agree that they should be banned outright.
If you don't want to go there, don't go there.
Just my two cents.

I am wondering where this "so much Fear Of Missing Out on a few post" came from. Speaking for my self It is not a about "fear" (LOL) of missing post. It has never gotten to the point of me wanting to add anyone to an the ignore list. It's annoying (so are off topic post) but I just don't see a real reason to "ignore" anyone. If it gets really bad, they are usually handled by the moderators and poof they are gone.
One could just use most of LQ, seems how things been repeatedly covered we can just read what's there; but, "guru" or not many people don't know how to search the internet or a thread.
As redundancy evolves, if we don't watch the pot could miss something or just run out of steam?!.
If we can't say anything and get away with it then we* haven't properly dictated right and wrong, or not: grow up — if you don't like evolve!
I'll admit that saying "fear" was a silly exaggeration on my part.
But I don't really see why someone posting 95% nonsense is worth paying any attention to.
Can't speak for others, but I'm not really paying attention to the nonsense. I guess if they really bothered me I would add them to the ignore list. Since becoming a member here I have not encountered anyone who annoyed me that much. Same goes for other forums I frequent. I can't recall ever using an ignore list.

Reason: encounter -> encountered; foruns -> forums
Hey, I just added one member. The ignore list works well in this instance. If I'm looking for help, I can read him, and otherwise he/she/it is ignored. The drain on your IQ is lessened. So I have learned something about LQ today. And ntubski was right. Someone posting 95% nonsense is not worth listening to.

I won't ban the thread. Greek kafeneio is like General here. Freedom of expression. No strong arm by me.
But I can respond. The jesuit reference kinda wound me up.
Now I am finding out he is not too educated. Not like me with my G.E.D.
Edit: Looks like other mods and developers had enough of that member. Since this post. Member is now banned.

The thread has been remove too, must have been a doozy.
All on Antix forums, I gather? I have passed the odd remark about the Jesuits myself, but I would strive not to wind anybody up. Although these are unusual times, especially when health has become politicized, and The USA has become the Disunited States politically. That was not a political statement, but a spectator's observation.
