Website Questions and Suggestions postings not to count against number of posts

As the posts on this forum are not directly related to solving problems, I suggest posts in this forum should not be counted in the number of posts.

I will be 56 posts poorer then :|

I disagree. Posts in this forum contribute to the running and general use of LQ itself, since by doing this you are helping the community, I think you should definitely be counted for posting here.

I also agree and this is exactly the same response I would have given.

And that is the response I would have given if you had given the response I gave in post#2!

FWIW, I agree. Getting members to post in WQ&S is critical to LQ's success.

I get the point ... oh great; so I get to keep the 56 posts and this 57th in my post-count.

On the other hand, do we really need the +1 count (read carrot) for posting on this forum. We all would still post suggestions and reply whether or not the post increases our Post-counter.

Aaaah, the old post count debate (XavierP dons smoking jacket, slippers and pipe...oh and my debating hat)

The whole "does it matter if we have a post count" thing rears it's head regularly - some say yes, some say no. Personally I no longer care, being a Mod means that your title stays the same regardless

But for everyone else, I think it's nice to have because it's useful for marking milestones and just for keeping score. I say keep it - it doesn't hurt anyone and most like it.

Pardon my ignorance, but how do you check your post count in each forum (not that I care about post count, just curious --- I looked around at the different options in the User CP.. maybe its just too late and still at work...)

Wow - I have 260

Go to the Forum Page (eg http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...p?s=&forumid=7 ) and click on Forum Stats (it's small and towards the top left). It's just to the right of "Moderated by:". The stats come up and it says (amongst other things) how many posts and threads you have started in the forum and your total.
