Way to delete a thread?

Is there a way that I can delete a thread from the forum that is answered and marked as solved.

acid_kewpie 04-23-2012 03:09 AM

nope. you can report it if you wish, and it could be looked at, but it's just easiest to let it go really.

Ajit Gunge 04-23-2012 03:12 AM

How if its very critical for me to get the thread removed?

Why would you want to? Threads that are solved help people who also have the same problem.

If you have done something you regret then it may be better to think before you post.

I second what acid_kewpie said in post #2 above. Anyway, I've received your report and contacted you by e-mail to ask for further clarifications. Deleting threads from the LQ database is made only for spam and some other egregious violations of the LQ rules. Asking for deletion of a normal thread is still possible, but the request should be well reasoned to be taken into account.

Colucix.I have used the Edit option for the thread.Actually I wanted to remove the thread as I had used some properitary terms and refrences which could have caused some legal issues so I wanted to have the thread removed. But I later discovered the Edit option and then edited the thread. One more thing I want to ask here.Do the members who earlier posted in the thread do get notified once I re-edit the same thread?

acid_kewpie 04-23-2012 05:57 AM

users don't get notified of edits, no. If they've quoted your slip ups, they, or a moderator, would need to edit the thread.

No.This is bad.I mean ideally if I want to edit some refrences that I have said earlier and someone else has quoted them in their replies then I have to request the moderator or the one replying to edit the quotes.Cant I just edit my original post and all the refrences get updated.Because if someone had quoted me in my earlier post luckily they didnt then I would have to write them and tell them to edit their responses.

acid_kewpie 04-23-2012 06:18 AM

No, you can't.

it is not "bad". Just think before you type next time.
