various rankings

I would like to know how you stop being a "Newbie" and when you attain various other rankings.

I believe you are ranked by the number of posts you make.

reddazz 07-19-2005 11:19 AM

This link explains everything. :)

Thanks!

I have seen probably 10 threads like this, Why don't people use the search?

natm 07-20-2005 02:42 PM

because we don't realize that the web site has a search feature, and this is easier than going and checking.

XavierP 07-20-2005 02:47 PM

We also have a Site FAQ and searching for this question in Google would probably give you the answer. It also took 7 minutes (plus your posting time) to find the answer. Using the search function would take you less than a minute.

My vote is that we should have a standard answer for questions like this:

Go to www.wearenotyoursearchengine.com

natm, thanks for the feedback. Is there a way we could make the search more noticeable in your opinion?

I dunno... maybe instead of the search button you could have a little box that you can type in to do the basic search.

titanium_geek 07-20-2005 07:30 PM

a "little box" (LB) would be useful and a bit more obvious, and an "advanced search" button for all the options you can plug in. default (used by LB) should be as non-server-intensive as possible. under the main menu perhaps? still leave the search button there- perhaps it could say
"Advanced Search" instead.

PS XavierP- hahaha.

jeremy 07-21-2005 09:07 PM

The "little box" feature you mention is planned for the next release. Thanks for the feedback.

man jeremy- am I ready for this next release. :) are the releases announced with great fanfare, or just quietly slipped into use?

The major release will be preannounced as it is such a large change. We're constantly changing the code though and most changes are not announced with much fanfare.

Any chance you might need some help beta testing?

jeremy 07-22-2005 02:00 PM

We'll likely do beta testing at some point, but we're no where near that point yet.
