Validation of RSS Feed

My 1st port of call for LinuxQuestions is subscription to your RSS feed.

I kept getting errors when collecting feed data, although the info did still come through. So, I ran the feed through the 'Feed Validator' site and this link points to the results with details of the errors being generated.

I just thought someone might like to know this and maybe have a look to see if it is significant?!

Cheers,
Sigarni.

Looks like it is valid now;

The W3C validator is the one I've used in the past, and it's showing "This is a valid RSS feed". FEED Validator is saying the same. What was the error you were seeing?

It's not that it shows as invalid. It just shows this error:

Congratulations!

[Valid RSS] This is a valid RSS feed.

Recommendations

This feed is valid, but interoperability with the widest range of feed readers could be improved by implementing the following recommendations.

*

line 47, column 0: style attribute contains potentially dangerous content: margin:20px; margin-top:5px; [help]

....Endquote\

I use Liferea 1.4.18 under LinuxMint v6 as my reader. The feed displays the content ok but says there were errors in collecting the feed and suggest checking with 'Feed Validator'. I assume that option is hardwired in the app. Following the link to 'Feed Validator' is what gives the detailed message quoted above.

I think this is probably like web pages that show in IE but not in Firefox. It's just a development thing across apps. Linux does not have a very diverse range of RSS readers that work too well (and I HATE using email or web apps that purport to be RSS readers) so it may be a quirk in the Liferea app. I just thought I would bring it to the feed designers attention. If I should take it to the Liferea developers, I am happy to do so. Either way, it's not causing immense problems by any means.

Sigarni.
