I just looked at my stats,

Almost Ten Years a slave to linux but only posted a few questions
Surely I would be a Senior Lurker by now...

Generally status is by the amount of post's that you have acquired. Plus reputation points you accumulated along the way.

Adding a new Lurker class I would imagine would be up to our owner here at LQ.

Ha!, I've been here for a decade but I first picked up that Red Hat disk APC mag where giving away in 1997!
Almost 20 years a Linux Lurker Try-Hard...

I am pretty chuffed with myself i can run up an install of ubuntu server 10.4 or 12.04 with zoneminder and the infamous stk1150 driver off penned-notes, ie typing each command.

The GUI Desktop installs have been getting better but they are still not easy

What makes the GUI install's not easy? The user's level of experience.

An example is debian jessie 8.2 looses my second display set-up if i don't boot with the large monitor turned on first. It just forgets it was ever attached and I've got to go setting the reso again... It also forgets I've got a second monitor when it goes into screen-blank with a password required... I havnt bothered trying to fix it 'cause for me' with gummy hands due to a neck injury, it is easier to make sureit is on rather than go thru CLI methods...

another debian install issue i have is if loading a device which has a non-free driver debian spews out a warning in the background filling up the temp file, especially if one manually formatted the install and didnt put GB after the drive sizes, it defaults to MB and the temp file will fill very quickly wiith a server layout..

another example is the latest versions of KDE. My eyes just cannot cope with all the gamma, anti-aliasing and funny font, even with the it all turned down or off or re-themed...

I consider these install issues 'cause until they are resolved I dont consider the os installed...

the above are not questions, im living with em' so's all good...

Sounds like you have a bit of a dilemma with the dual monitors. Sorry I'm not good with multiple monitors.

I had the same issue but killed it with these super dark computer glasses that I purchased.

nah, all is not well,,,, im sick of the way the file manager jumps around to mouse focus, especially the horizontal scoll and resizing...
im tired of looking up file properties to see what time they changed instead of settling for "today" or "yesterday"
And I absolutly hate the way the vertical scroll bar behaves in some windows, mainly synaptic...
it's also annoying having to set my scoll wheel to actually scroll rather than fold-up a window into it title bar..

all this stuff is on my list to do and will stay there... by the time i upgrade ill have another set of issues making any investment in the current use a waste...

I used to have all kinds of problems with my os too until I switched to Slackware.
It's incredibly stable and hard to break. It's the distro of IRON give it a try if you have the time.

about a month ago i ran up 5 or 6 distro's looking for the one with maximal comfort but minimal amount of input and effort all whilst staying as native and light as possible....

jesse got close but as soon as i try starting to power-use it im tripping over everywhere...

Debian is another rock solid distro. Sorry it didn't give you what you wanted/needed. I ran it for 2 years and loved it but it doesn't compare to Slackware; IMO.
Once I became more experienced with Slackware no other distro's have been able to intimidate me.:)
Slackware is an excellent teacher.

Back to the topic, it occurred to me that "Lurker" (or "Ghost') could be a label for a registered member with no posts.

Thanks for the feedback. We have no plans to a "Lurker" usertitle or usergroup at this time. That said, additional feedback is welcome.

Ten years of running Linux, and lurking is a long time. I think it shows the amount of interest and patience you have to explore and learn. I encourage you to help others here with the knowledge you have provided that's something you'd like to pursue.
