Unified Desktop forum
 

I believe one of the major weaknesses of Linux for the masses is the desktop confusion. Even if you choose KDE over Gnome, the Distro guys still work hard on leaving their footprints on their desktop. I have RH9 desktop, but swiched to KDE. Instead of seeing the KDE logo on the start menu, I still see the Red-Hat hat (not even the Gnome foot).

I think Linuxquestions.org needs at least one forum similar to Distributions but called Desktop Managers to be used for helping people.

My intention would be to use it so that maybe a 'Unified Desktop' can emerge by people posting questions.

E.g.

Desktop Managers

Gnome
KDE
Others

I think Desktop type questions fit perfectly in Software or Newbie the majority of the time. I think it would only cause more confusion with more and more subforums and such like this, it would cause more double posts, and so on.

Maybe one day but the demand for each and every little bit of makes up the Linux world is just too many to breakdown really.
