Unfinished threads
 

I just went tru part of the board and it seems to me there are a lot of questions that are not entirely resolved, dont have a 100% right answer.
From looking at behaviour at other boards I get this idea when ppl see more than 1 reply they tend to think it's all settled, even if it isn't. Also ppl who are answering a motherload of questions may just forget to check up on a specific one they answered to before.

Im not entirely in favour of something like notification tru mail as a thread updates (as from my experience with experts-exchange.com). So im wondering if there could be a way thread owners could flag their thread as open? Would that be possible/feasable?

Well from what I personally see from browsing and answering questions, sometimes its the orignal thread starter that never responds after their original post and someone answers their question.
Most of the time it seems whoever gets there first has to ask for more details the majority of the time.
Alot of the time though, I will see one particular person helping them, if they seem to know what they are doing, I don't interfear with them unless I might have some valuable input.
Then at times it occurs I might myself start out asking for more details, then someone comes back and starts answering before I get the chance to follow up which is fine and usually I leave it be...

But as I ramble on.... I think that is a good idea of the original thread starter to have a type of flag, that would be cool.

A suggestion somewhat similar to this has come up before. I really like to idea, just deciding on the correct implementation. Unfortunatly there are a few things I would like to get done first, so this may take a little while. Thanks.

Agreed, if I take the time to ask for more details and don't get a reply I take it that the person is fine and so don't bother to check back.
