Third Parties Slowing You Down?

It seems that this site hangs quite often when its connecting to bravenet.com . Whats the deal with them? I know they are an advertising company but it seems like they are slowing things down a lot.

After clicking submit for posting this thread I went into an almost indefinte hang connecting to bravenet.com . The irony is thick...

I used to get that too

Now that I don't have the ads (because I'm a contributing member) it all loads fine

Peace...

To me it's the same problem, except it's burst.net.... There are still sad people on 56k, and this is really slowing things down...

Here are 4 quick tips that "could" help speed it up for you:
1) Get a local cache server
2) Install some sort of add blocker
3) Create a firewall rule to stop you accessing the domain
4) Stick the offending domain in your hosts file like:
127.0.0.1 bravenet.com burst.net
(note: you'll get 404 errors if you have a webserver running)

Remember you have done it if you do the last 2 - just incase you want to visit the domain for any reason.

I know you could also become a contributing member (I will do soon - Next pay day ) but this will work for other sites too.

Yeah, but I don't spend nearly the amount of time at other sites as I do here. I gladly paid the fee to be a contributing member to get rid of the ads

Cool

Another thread was posted recently about this. If it happens to you please send me a traceroute from your computer to the site in question so I can contact the appropriate people. Thanks.
