I would like to express my unbounded appreciation to whomever has 'fixed' the Thread Subscription 'button' which always used to end up at the Forums level, now it simply reverts to the message (thread) to which I have subscribed.

Magic. Since it used to drive me mad.

you mean the "new" (for me) bar at the bottom that has links for "printable version" "email" "subscribe" and "bookmark" ? I think this bar is really cool too.

Actually, no. I have always been able to see the 'toolbar' in question, one of which was the 'Subscribe to this thread' button/option, so long as I scrolled far enough down the page. I must admit that I never thought about whether this was a function available only to 'Contributing Members' since I have been one since, almost, creating a nym here in LQ. Rather my comment and gratitude was directed to the fact that in the past I always ended up, after having subscribed to a thread back at the 'Forums' page, [this was exactly the same effect as clicking on the LinuxQuestions.org > Forums > ...... (Forums part) on the second line of most any LQ page].

Since I must admit to using Outlook as my email client [a hang over 9pun intended) from working in or consulting with Windows only shops], and while I browse the web using Firefox, Outlook will not open my emails in anything other than IE. Not that this bothers me particularly since I consider LQ to be an inherently safe site.

Hi. No I have always been able to see it for whatever reason - perhaps because I always knew it to be there, or perhaps because I have a natural tendency to click on *every* button on a web page (on a new site) which is a carry over from my software testing days (I think that this is generically called 'Quality Control' and was an important part of our checking custom-designed systems before shipping out to customers - back in the late 80's. I also learnt to check *every* formula in each and every cell of a financial projections spreadsheet (Lotus, Symphony and Excel) and I *always* found errors no matter which major investment bank had 'endorsed' said projections.

umm... I think that since it's a bit bigger now (bookmarks added) it's more noticable. I think I saw it before and ignored it- now I seem to have a use for it.
