Suggestion...

You have a great board with great users and great info but sometimes the navigation is a bit difficult

:D

Is this before or after the lockdown?

You may want to go to profile and get the subcribed threads and see what all got posted while you were "away".

Later

 :D :D :D

You should get a e-mail about this one since I posted to it. Good password right?

In what way is the navigation difficult? Can you supply examples and suggestions of how you would like it to look?

dalek 01-05-2004 03:43 AM

XavierP, timmy_laf kind of left his rig running and someone used it to make quite a few posts. Basically it may not be timmy_laf that made that post.

May want to read this.

He'll post back if it was him, really him that is.

Aaaah, I think I posted here before I read that post.

'Nuff said. :)

Well it did make me think about the fact that when I go to town I leave my rig running. I have my bank info, password and login, stored in form manager. Somebody break in a they can take my money.

If I were a mod I would search for those threads and delete them. I'm not a mod here, I am on another forum though, so It appears they will stay there.

Wonder how that lock screen thing works?

XavierP 01-05-2004 03:57 AM

Or Timmy_laf could go through all his postings and edit them to delete all the words......

Thing is, not all of them are offensive - like the one at the top of this page, so a mod would not necessarily know which ones need to be deleted.

My 2-penn'orth :)

I think he started some threads though. Those would require a mod or admin one. Just for the sake of history I guess.

I can remove threads that are bad or whatever on the other forum. Not sure about how this one is set up though.

Doesn't matter whether your box is running or not as far as I know. Anybody can steal the computer, stick a boot disk in it and turn it on, and *then* steal your money. Xlock might keep out pets or little kids or the Linux clueless, but you need to secure the room and the net connection more than the console. (Incidentally, xlock is completely useless if you're logged in on any other terminal - someone can still switch to that terminal.)

I believe you can password protect the BIOS and then disable removable drive boots. That might provide more security, but I'm not that concerned about physical computer security, so I don't know.

Well I doubt many crooks around here know how to use windoze much less a real OS like Linux.

I don't leave the door open for them but something is better than nothing. Even the BIOS can be cleared and still boot if they are that smart, which I doubt.

timmy_laf,

I think I got all of the threads that appeared to not be you. If I missed any let me know.
