Seasrch keyword highlight missing?
Am I missing something here, or is it that I am confusing the abilities of other fora (i.e. not LQ) but didn't the old search function - maybe the google search? - actually highlight the keyword(s) in a search string throughout [i.e. in every occurence in a post(s)] the thread?
If my memory hasn't gone completely (I don't think I have lost my marbles) will this function ever be available on LQ? Thanks and happy Christmas and a Happy, healthy and prosperous New Year to you and yours. Cheers Richard |
Yes, the search used to be http://<url of thread>+searchword1+searchword2+etcetc
It now shows as: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...tall+game+wine which is the same. And checking the thread shows the searched words in red. Works fine here. |
Hi, that was a very rapid response! Do you have the day off tomorrow?
How did you get that highlight=install+game+wine in your link? Are you searching a specific thread? Just for instance I am looking for 'via-agp.ko' and I get 446 hits (threads) on standard search. However on Advanced Search the same keyword (with Search Entire Posts selected) returns a blank. What do you know that I don't? Don't answer that! Just clue me in on the search highlight functionality, please Ray. Cheers Richard |
Seems to work for me also - are you still having the problem?

Hi Jeremy
Yes indeed, it does seem to be highlighting now if I go through the Advanced Search and insert my keyword(s) there. Thanks for your reply. Hope you had a good Christmas - Have a happy, healthy and properous New Year. Cheers Richard PS: Can you make the "0 replies emails" one of your New Year resolutions - 'Give us this day our daily email' is what I say! |
That functionality is on the top of the list for the next phase of code changes. We just have a few more bits to tidy up from the upgrade before we get to those.
