Searching threads started by me & containing posts by a given user.

Main Menu > Search. By means of this feature, is it possible to find all threads started by me an containing posts by a given user? I have tried, but unsuccessfully. Greetings.

No, this is not currently possible.

The closest I have come is to put one username, probably yours, in the "Search by User Name" box & the other in the "Search by Keyword" box.

I have just done what you have pointed out, but no use. It's as simple as this, I think (I don't know what that "closest" you've got is): the engine doesn't bother to look for the name (the poster's username) on the left of the post subwindow. If you are lucky, somebody, most probably you, wrote the other username in the post body. Greetings.

You can try with Google. If I insert the following in the search bar:
Code:

site:linuxquestions.org colucix stf92
I retrieve a lot of results. Most likely all the threads where we both appear.

I think you're right. I have only done this 1ce, maybe 2ce.

colucix: I beg your pardon for the omission. Your post has been most useful. Regards.

site:linuxquestions.org colucix stf92 archtoad6 worked like a charm -- the 1st 2 hits are this thread & its parent forum.
+5 colucix.

Here's a convenient link for using Google to search LQ: http://www.google.com/advanced_searc...xquestions.org. Unfortunately Google changed something recently so it no longer gives 30 results per page.

Thanks catkin.

Nice link -- here's mine that goes for 100 results:

Please elaborate. I tried both links on us -- catkin archtoad6 -- & both worked as designed: 30 or 100 results.

BTW, great tip, & thank you for reminding me about Google Advanced Search.

Let me return the favor by pointing out Google Linux
&, for me the newly discovered, Google Advanced Linux Search
