Anything wrong with the search engine? LQ is snappy - and strangely, while it doesn't return useful results (because I know there are already old topics about the search engine getting slow) 'Click here to find similar threads' is also snappy. But the search page itself takes 30-60 seconds to return results for me at the moment.
I've actually experienced this as well... Although, as you probably know it depends on the search terms and the number of replies returned. What was your query?
Well, it was definitely not a strict query, but even stricter variations had the same long lag. Someone was asking about 'good linux books' again, and I was going to post a link to the returned search results.
Ironically, I ended up sympathizing with them - the returned results were close to useless. Google/linux had better results and returned a thread from LQ, even. But even those results weren't spectacular.

As I've posted before, the search machine currently gets overwhelmed from time to time. We are working to get new hardware to help alleviate the problem. The search will also be rewritten in the future to improve the results returned.
