There are no forums where this is possible.

FWIW, we regularly remove profiles that have no posts associated with them.

Could you tell me what does regularly mean? And is no posts the only rule?

We don't have any set schedule but:

* We'll remove any account by request, as long as there are no posts associated with it.
* We periodically prune old accounts that have not accessed the site in many years and have never posted. Before doing this we always contact the member notifying them of the pending deletion and give them a couple weeks to log into LQ, which will prevent the account from being pruned.

Searching common terms like loan, credit, financ, card, free, casino, game, online, poker, sell, buy, order, wow, porn, sex, etc, etc return 300+ accounts created between 2007 and now that could be slotted for removal. If you would email me a list of plain user Ids I could return a FP-filtered list.

I was able to automate the removal of most of these accounts.

i think all what u tell is ... BS. i registered 2008... and i never made a single post since that time... the only post i made up till now was the question how to remove my profile. And now? i have a post... does this mean that u will never remove my profile?

If your forum has a design which removes every post from a poster once the account is removed then u should really think of a change... i never saw a forum in all those decades i use forums which disallow a user to remove his profile/account. Shame!

i dont want to just not log in anymore, i want to ensure my profile and my email address to be removed?
Or is it not allowed to have such desire?

Does this forum need a certain amount of registered users to be attractive for advertising rings?

As someone already asked, do you have a reason for wanting your profile removed?

FWIW, Gentoo's forum doesn't allow users to remove their own profiles either.

LQ and Gentoo's policies are consistent with what I've seen elsewhere.

Do the following:

Remove all profile information.

Change your email to garbage - e.g. joysn -at- linuxquestions.org or something else which looks like a valid email address but isn't.

Change your password to random garbage or a hexadecimal hash... Click on the "save changes" button.

Logout

The only info Linuxquestions would have on you at that point is the IP addresses for posts - and I'm afraid that's unavoidable and if it worries you - pull the plug...

Goodbye, etc
