regarding profile picture...!

i know that this issue has been asked a number of times but this is not a suggestion really, but question.
I just want to know the idea behind restricting the users to upload their profile picture before they reach senior member tag.
Why is it not enabled for everyone...what is the real harm ?

Nobody ?

I think your question has been answered in that not enough people here give a flying fig about a profile picture. It doesn't really add anything to the site and personally I don't want to be held responsible for all the destroyed monitors should I upload my picture.

I asked this question to know the idea behind it because other forums have enabled this feature !

Hi,

I don't know Jeremy's reason, but I can come up with 2 from the top of my head:

1) bandwidth,
2) storage.

Both should be used for important stuff.

BTW: You reached a 150 posts: Go nuts with your profile picture :)

Thanks for informing !
I thought that it was enabled only for senior members....

I had doubts about uploading a profile photo. Did I really want to risk giving people nightmares? Yes...

To my knowledge it is the senior member user group (reached at 150 posts) we are talking about and not the senior member title (reached at 1000 posts)

To verify, you can upload a picture once you are in the Senior Member usergroup (which is 150 posts).

yeah...i got it but i still don't get the real idea behind restricting it upto that limit !

It's not a feature we ever planned on supporting. Some members expressed a desire and enabling it for Senior Members was a nice balance that rewards members who regularly participate at LQ while limiting the feature to those least likely to abuse it.
