quiz
Hi there!
I WANT TO GONGRATULATE PEOPLE WHO CREATED THIS WHOLE THING ( I MEAN LINUXQUESTIONS ) - I THINK IT IS ONE OF THE GREATEST LINUXFORUMS ON THE EARTH! And here is one of the greatest advantages of this forum: if you ever post some question - you will always get an answer :) |
Well, I agree, Jeremy did do a great job creating a quality site, and has done a great job keeping it exactly what it started out to be. Great Job Jeremy.
But, I disagree on the second part slightly. If you ever post a question, you may get an answer, but sometimes the question is beyond anyone's knowledge, is not asked well - which leads to no one being able to answer because they don't understand the question, and a few other possibilities. But as a whole, I bet that is a very small number of questions, probably less than 1 percent overall. Good call Nautilus! ;) |
Yeah,It feels good here.
But if you come to the following site you will find the biggist http://www.csdn.net/Expert/Forum.asp...d=81&typenum=2 it is a forum from China |
Looked at the csdn site - it's very busy isn't it?
Lots of flashing ads for Visual Studio and other multipupose lifestyle solutions. I prefer aqua and grey myself. A funny thing I see when searching for topics on google is that the google search brings me back to my post. For linux stuff genearlly the google people seem to be onto LQ. WHich can only be a good thing. Bert |
Yes I know, I will go there sometimes after seeing a question, and type in a lot of the keywords, and usually withing the first 5 headings is the question I am trying to get the answer to, or the answer to the question, actually in another post on LQ. :D
Nautilus, why the title "quiz"? Cool |
Well, first I wanted to post thread about LinuxQuestion quiz :), so I have forgotten to chage the subject. But anyway I want to advice Jeremy to make more quizes :)
It would be very cool to test your Linux knowledge :) P.S Sorry for mistakes... :) |

I might to try and come up with more, maybe some more distro specific one's like the Slackware one I submitted. :) |

I know. How about a "cool things to do" quiz? The quizzes so far have been great but kind of in the vein of "So, what's the square root of 317?", "What's the capital of Vanuatu?" etc.
My point is that they could be really informative. Eg.: Code:
Fruits.txt looks like this: sed 's/ *[0-9][0-9]*\.[0-9][0-9]$/\$&/' fruits.txt 1. Turn all the fruits into sundry vegetables ? 2. Reverse the prices (0.89 becomes 89.0) ? 3. Add $ signs onto prices ? 4. Appends an & sign to each line ? 5. Add the prices up ? Here's another (simpler one): MyApp has crashed! How do I kill it off? 1. stop MyApp. 2. grep MyApp && kill 3. ps aux | grep MyApp | kill 4. ps aux | grep MyApp kill <PID> 5. None of the above. Bert |
hehehe, that's cool :), Bert you have a good imagination :)
But still I do not know the answer to the first. Suggest one? :) |
good quiz trickykid :D
It is a pitty that quizes can be made only by moderators .... |
That's not true I am sure. You could make one up, and pass it along to Jeremy. If it's a decent quiz, I would guess he'd put it up and give you the credit (assuming that someone didn't copy the quiz from somewhere else ;) )
But since I haven't ever made one, I am not sure on that. However my guess is based off the fact that you can contribute to the glossary, so I don't see why he wouldn't let you also contribute in the quizzes. Cool |
Wow you have suprised me MasterC!
That is very cool ! |
