There's a thread that has been purged of mine from the Debian forum. Is there any way to get it back? I have additional info I need to add to it. It's called internet connection failed.
Yeah, but I searched for it from the Debian forum itself and couldn't find it oddly enough. I used internet as my keyword, but I came up with nothing with me as the creator.
I know that, stop overstating the obvious. I was trying to be creative by using internet as my keyword. I hope this proves to jeremy that the LQ search function needs to be improved.
Oh god, here we go again. Let me explain: this is an internet site, many many people use the nternet and have problems and so put a post on this site with the word "internet" in it. So searching for that word is not a particularly efficient search now is it? You could also have searched fo the word "linux" - you would have had an equally fruitless time.
The more efficient things you could have done would be to search for words you knew were in your post or search by your user name. Your inability to do a good search in no way means that the search function is broken or otherwise not working correctly.
And, hey, not to state the obvious but your post is not a good way to respond to a legitimate post in a forum such as this. Do not do it again. Remember, posting is a privilege not a right and posting in the way you did is a good way to have the privilege removed.

Craigwd, FWIW when I found the thread I searched for posts by "Craigwd" with the word internet in the title. If you still have the searchid for the search that failed I can try to see why it failed. The search is always something we are trying to improve, but without specific reproducible examples of where people think it is breaking down, there is nothing I can do.

BTW, rereading the thread I notice that you said "I used internet as my keyword". That is a *really* common word and due to resource issues there is a hard limit on the number of results a search will return.
Yeah, I know, maybe I just need to do more specific searches in the future. Though it would be a sort of added bonus if when common words like internet are searched for if the user is logged in then the search should automatically search for their username too. Call it a smarter search if you will. Sounds like a great idea that should be implemented, but only for common words like internet and the search function should only do this if instances of the word are associated with the thread's title and it needs to be smart enough to know when the user searching is also the creator of such threads (Call it a primitive AI if you want.).

I wouldn't want this cause I'd always forget and wonder why only the threads I've posted in came up as most of the time I just search my own username if I want to find posts made by myself, other times I want to search other peoples threads as I remember what I've posted or where..
