problem with background images at website after code upgrade

Hi there

It looks that my office computer running on windows XP,IE 6.0 SP2 is lacking something ,since it is not able to display the background on the new LQ site.

The old LQ site code which is still runing at iso.linuxquestions.org is running fine, but the new one is going without any background images.

i am getting plane white background and text at new LQ and since we do not get admin rights on the machine so i am not able to look into more with this win-machine

Everything works fine on my Linux/win machine at home

i think i need to change some options in IE so as to make things work

Also I saw this error at IE on the bottom left side

Line;988
Char:2
Error:Object expected
code:0

Is this happening to anyone else? I can't reproduce the problem. Do you get the logo (which is also served from images.linuxquestions.org)?

Install Mozilla Firefox, it's WAY better than IE anyways, plus WAY more secure plus WAY more features and addons.

I agree to what you have replied ,but we are not allowed to install any S/W on our Office PC,as i mentioed it in my last post i do not face any problem at home with IE or Firefox on any Operating System.

Still if the problem persists i will try to request them for firefox also i doubt that there is any problem with any config settings at LQ,maybe there is something wrong with the browser that i am using.

jeremy:i am sending u the snapshots of the LQ site on my PC

regards

hay jeremy, i'm sorry but i can't find the post i made about this about a week ago or so

you asked me to post a pic of the prob i was having with the drop down menus... being opaque.. therefore making them unreadable in many instances.

my mozilla (1.7.12) appearance settings are for 'my fonts & colors' to override that of the background image specifide.

i need to have a different background ALL the time because of my eyes.. so i set it 'grey'... white is just tooo harsh on me.

sooo.. i would think there is some way the rendering can be set to acomodate folks like me.. since i guess i'm far from the only one that requires this.. and is having this problem.

here is a png shot i just made.. sorry it took soo long.

notice under 'Forum Tools'-- when it is dropped-down how it it is not colored differently, so the letters over lap with whatever is under them.. making them impossible to read.

lemme know if there are any other things i can do to help

Since you are manually overriding what we are sending, I don't think there is much we can do on this end to help.

man- bummer.

I would seriously try and sell firefox as the more secure and productive option for your workplace, because IE is horrible. It is not too hard to switch either.
