Posts Magically Disappear

I received an e-mail about a new post made to a subscribed thread, today at 1:25AM, by DudeManAwesome. And even though the main page
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...linux-news-67/
says it's there, I can't see it here...
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...437/page2.html

I've tried two different browsers on two distros, but that post is gone. This is the second time I've had this experience. Is there a problem on my end, LQ's side, or do certain type posts get deleted without notice?

Is that the post right there? (Shows 0225hrs for me, probably the time difference.)

Hi Sasha, and thank you for your reply. I can't see the post in your link (3583013). Can you verify that it's post #31 in that thread? The last one visible to me is 3582109- post #30.

Problem is, after reading your post, I booted a different PC with yet another distro, logged out and back into LQ, and it's still not there. All my browsers are set to empty the cache on exit, and I've restarted the browsers and reloaded the page several times on all three distros.

Cheers

That is EXTREMELY bizarre.. I think, anyways.
Yes, it is post #31.

Let me go check something else; I'll be back shortly with an edit to this post.

Well, I was looking for any signs of ill-intent or objectionable content in the post, but none seems to be there.

I'd like to know if anyone else on LQ is having the same issue with that post, so people, if you can all see post #31 at the link I provided earlier, please tell us. Or, if you can't see it, tell us that too! Thanks

Sasha

Another Follow-up

I just tried with yet another PC running WinXP and IE8 which had never been to LQ before. I checked before and after logging in, reloaded the page, switched to Compatibility View, etc., etc. Still no post #31.

Either something is amiss, or I've been beamed into the Twilight Zone.

Would you like me to send you the guts of that post?

If so, tell me how/email/PM me.

Under windows/ff I only see post #30. The thread is titled "A Kernel of all things!" and the last post (30) is by H_TeXMeX_H

Sorry to bug in, but I also see only 30 posts in that thread. Perhaps there are things visible to moderators but not to users?

Ah, you've become a moderator since the last time I saw you- Congratulations!

Yes, I'm quite interested in that reply, if you don't mind sending it to me by e-mail.

Thank you!

Weird behavior... when I click on page 3, it still gives me page 2. I cannot see post #31 as a result.

You have no contact method. I think you can email me though; if so, I will reply with content.

Thanks.

And thanks for the congrats

Try changing your per page limit in your user CP from 30 to 10 (Edit Options) and try again. Worked for me. Anyway, Jeremy should be looking into this.

I've just copied the guts of post#31 onto post 32. Anyone see it now?

Sasha

I now see 31 and 32, 31 by DudeManAwesome and 32 by yourself. I didn't have a page 3 previously.

Ummm, now it's double-take, post 31 & 32... Very interesting, indeed.
