post reply & submit reply buttons

I often find myself clicking the wrong (post reply) button when I answer in the small box below. Could the buttons be me to a more logical place (switch them)?

If I'm the only one stupid enough to do this, please ignore this message.

You are not the only one, and I second the request. The 'post reply' button to the left of the quick reply window is a trap that gets me every so often.

same here, happens to me frequently.

Ditto - and I should know better! Luckily, if i hit 'back' I don't lose all of my well thought out words ;)

I didn't know people didn't like the order. Is this better?

I think the problem is that the "post reply" button appears (to new members and to inattentive people like me) to be the button to "post the reply you have just written". Also, the "submit reply" button isn't visible if you don't scroll your screen down far enough.

Could I suggest that the "submit" button be put more prominently and for there to be a small message to say that hitting "submit" will submit your quick message and hitting "post reply" will bring up the full form?

I did think of asking that a pop up window appear asking if you really want the full form if you hit "post" by mistake, but that'll be going too far.

BTW this is my second draft of this message - I hit "Reset Form" instead of "Submit Reply"!! ;)

XavierP is right, the problem is not the Spell Check button but that the 'post reply' button to the left of the box is so prominent; who's going to read the small print above? (And actually, the notification 'you can still click the post reply button' just makes me go 'so what?')

Maybe the prominent post reply button should be under the window*, with spell check and something like 'Reply form with editor' underneath.

* edit: and it should actually post the reply, too :)

Perhaps the post reply graphic on the left could go to the main reply page but also carry forward any information that is in the quick reply box.

That'd be good, if Jeremy can implement it. Basically, we need to have the site proofed against people like me ;)

if nobody is that bothered by the new order of spell/submit can we please have it put back cos i keep hitting the wrong button.

actually, in most cases i've seen around here, having people accidentally spellcheck their posts is a benefit to us all...
