Poll: could you add a third option?

Hi:

In
this thread, very few people is voting. I should have given three options, the 3rd being 'I use both'. Would you be so kind to add it? Regards.

People do have the right to not vote, you know..? Maybe people just don't find it interesting?

Hi stf92,

Besides acid_kewpie's excellent reply:

The vast majority of threads that have polls attached don't need a poll in the first place.

Setting up a good poll is hard, as you just noticed. And the results shown are (can be?) dubious. I rather read the posted messages to find out why someone prefers one above the other(s) (if that is the case).

To answer your question: I don't think you can add another option once people have started voting (would not be fair to those that have already voted and it will make your results useless).

druuna is correct; polls cannot be edited once they start by design.

I do not know if that category is one my thread falls into. But I got 32 posts in all. I don't think that's a bad mark.

@jeremy: thanks for your reply.

Yes, I think so

For one you did forget to include a viable option (I use both). Another general reason: People who do click the poll but don't tell you why a choice was made. And even if they tell you the reason the end result of the poll can be tainted: xkcd - TornadoGuard

As I stated before, setting up a poll that has all the valid options and is unambiguous is hard to do.

The amount of posts in a thread doesn't have anything to with the poll itself. The specific thread we are talking about seems to have a nice discussion going about GUI's VT's and fonts and I'm not at all suggesting that you should not have asked this question! At the moment there are 38 replies and 605 views and that does show that there is an interest.

This is, as always, my 2c and I'm not forcing you to do, or not do, anything!

I don't see the problem with the TornadoGuard poll. A single measurement caused the mean to displace a great deal but the standard deviation would tell.
