Well, I noticed several interesting things about Linux From Scratch:
1. (B)LFS is still far from being a very popular distribution - only 0.63% members voted for it in the latest
Distibution of the Year poll. However
2. The LFS community is growing very quickly - here, at LinuxQusetions.org, LFS distribution ranks 8th according to the number of threads and the number of posts, which means that it is much more questioned/commented than any other distro and LFS users need much more communication than other Linux users [no discrimination, it's just statistics].
3. The threads in "Linux from Scratch" forum can be divided into two groups: (a) threads related to following [or playing around]
the BOOK and (b) threads related to building something not included in the book (it might be a game, a different GUI, a media software - anything).
I think many of LFS users actually use some "extra" packages. Some of them did it succesfully and might have success stories to share. Some might have failed and have questions to ask. Finally the developers of LFS project might get additional indications and feedback about which packages are popular and need to be included in stable release.
If we could have a separate zone for this type of discussions, all of them [actually "us"] - the inquirers, the contributors and the developers - would benefit.
What do YOU say?
