partly automating the hcl

Mandrake has made use of a package that was meant to scan your hardware and allow you to feedback on how well it works or not.

Could the hcl be fed in such a way at least for internal components ? I've done a search on SATA and it returned nothing. Given the number of PC coming with SATA controlers these days, it sounds bizarre.

My 2 cents.

The HCL is populated by LQ users. So the list is as complete as the entries - LQ cannot/will not scan members pcs for this info.

If you have got a SATA disk working, post an entry. It's also worth noting that the HCL won't update as quickly as the boards as entries have to be checked and ok'd first.

A while back work was started on a script that would, in part, ease you entering your hardware into the HCL. The main person working on it no longer had time. Let me see if I can get interest going again.
