No longer getting emails from Linuxquestions Forum

I don't know where to post this as there doesn't seem to be a forum specifically relating to Linuxquestions user issues. Could a moderator please move this to the correct forum. Thank you.

I have used Linuxquestions for years and have had no problems receiving emails in the past.

My profile is set for instant email notification for Default Thread Subscription Mode. Have not changed anything in Linuxquestions itself.

Last email I got was early December 2022. Those emails seemed to come from AWS - Amazon Web Services. I have noticed however, looking up Linuxquestions on intodns and mxtoolbox, that Google is used as the mail server. Not sure if Linuxquestions recently changed mail servers or if the forum uses AWS to send emails?

Has anything changed on Linuxquestions in the last few months with regards to forum sending email notifications that would explain why I no longer get any emails from Linuxquestions. I have not seen any topics raising the issue, so I suspect the problem is just for me!

The only other thing it could be is some new Firewall rules that I added to my Mail Server firewall sometime in late December to drop Invalid packets, block port scanners and drop bogus TCP flags etc.

However, if Linuxquestions is using Google as their mail servers, it's very unlikely to be an issue with this as I would have surely had issues with many other companies that use Google for their Mail servers. Unless there is something specific about the Linux forum email config that is causing the issue.

My mail server program itself is not getting anything from Linuxquestions - there is nothing in the logs. So either Linuxquestions forum is no longer sending emails or my firewall in front of the mail server is dropping the connections for some reason. Before I starting reversing firewall rules, I would like to confirm whether Linuxquestions itself has changed anything since December or if a Linuxquestions moderator can shed any light on why I no longer receive emails? I would assume the Linux mail server logs would have some useful information.

Then once, I have ruled out the obvious, I can move onto reversing the firewall rules until hopefully I can find the rule that is causing the issue.

Thank you for replying.

As obviously I am the only one experiencing this problem, the issue must be to do with my firewall. So I have remmed out the new rules in the firewall. Will have to wait a couple of days to see if it works! Then I will have to test each rule to see which one is causing the problem.

Good to know which forum to post this into next time! Thanks for the link to the contact us. Didn't even notice it at the bottom of the website. Shows how observant I am.

I have checked, double checked and triple checked my settings, which have not been changed for years. All is set as it should be! The topic you linked to does seem to suggest my mail server is blocking Linuxquestions for some reason. I will update if and when I find out what the problem is.

I will also see if using my gmail account works - That way, I can rule out issues with the forum settings itself if my secondary email account works, but not the primary one!

Thank you for moving this to the correct forum.

I remmed out the new firewall rules - no change. I have now updated my email address to my secondary email account. Immediately got the verification email. So at least that is working. I will see if I get email notifications on the secondary email account. If I do, I will try revert back to the primary email address as perhaps it just needs a reset! I am not seeing anything in the logs that would suggest that Linuxquestions forum was sending anything on the primary account.

Still not getting any emails after changing to my gmail account. Will contact Linux Support after I have tried changing the subscription settings and then setting it back again as sometimes resetting the config works. But at the moment, it does not look like an issue with my main email account.
