I guess I am the first one, so here it goes.
My name is Tom and attending college part-time. At the age of 32 I am the old guy in most of my classes. I wish I would have listened to my dad and stuck it out when I graduated high school.
I am in charge of computer operations at the place I work. It is a Windows shop and I am not allowed to install Linux on a PC here. That really sucks. Any way I am really bored here at work and usually am on LQ. If anyone in northeast OH has a job offering working with Unix or Linux let me know, I am intersted.
I found LQ doing a search and love it. It is the best Linux help forum in the world. I wish I knew as much as some of the people on here.
Also any geek girls out there I am free (hahahaha).

hello bower321 and welcome to LQ
BTW, this post was intended (I believe) to inform of the sub-forum creation and the idea was that each new (member) should create a new post in thet forum, rather than attach to this one. Anyway, you're welcome and we're looking forward to your Q's & A's

My name is Ken. I'm retired and live in San Diego. I started experimenting with Linux when Ubuntu sent me a set of live and install CD's. Like an idiot I immediately installed the OS and wound up screwing up my HD by misapplication of the partitioning tool. I quickly learned of the mysterious "hidden partitions." and other nasty surprises. After reformatting I obtained the Knoppix live CD, v. 4.0.2 and scanned this forum and others to learn the Linux ABC's.
I thank this forum particularly for turning me on to the Actiontec external serial modem which got me on the internet effortlessly. I recently installed PCLinuxOS 0.92 successfully and am simply amazed at what so many dedicated and brilliant people have accomplished for so little little financial reward. Computing is fun again.
