This custom titles have gone haywire now and the thread has completely lost the subject it was started for. I wish if everyone has stuck to the topic it would not have been personal attack on jeremy.

Personal attacks are never warranted, Jeremy is very easy going and does not now, nor ever has, attacked a member personally. If anyone has a problem with the way Jeremy runs his own site I would strongly suggest you either email him directly or create a new thread in this sub-forum to politely discuss your opinion.

FWIW, I'd not consider myself a master - more along the lines of a benevolent dictator, just like Linus considers himself with the Linux kernel. That doesn't mean I haven't run the site with openness, transparency and in the spirit of free software since day one. I think I have. I once again offer you to send me specific examples of how I or LQ have strayed, so I can improve...but either offline or in a dedicated thread, not here. Thanks.

Yes, there should be one person in control for a site as this but it seems to me that authority is delegated very well.

As for 'it's far away from the openness of any kind and true spirit of the free software', openness and free software has nothing to do with the way 'LQ' is governed.

We as members agree to abide by the 'LQ Rules'. You don't have to participate but you chose to abide by the rules which you seem not to abide. Personal attacks are not warranted but open intelligent debate in a polite manner is acceptable. We as a community participants here at 'LQ' sometimes have personal conflicts with other members. Sometimes it's due to personalities or just communication barriers that will inject misinterpretation that leads to conflict. Either way we all should temper ourselves so as to not offend. Sure, disagree, openly debate but in a polite, intellectual manner. I know since I've been spanked a few times by the 'mods'. :)

Hopefully you continue your participation here at LQ but if not then that too is your choice.

BTW, I'm not defending 'jeremy' as he can do that very well. But I do support his standards here at LQ.

I couldn't agree more. It's a community, composed of individuals. Disagreements are bound to happen. The fact that this is here after all the years and posts is proof positive that it is doing well, in spite of the few who are so incredibly antiestablishment that they can't even get along with a community of antiestablishmentarians.

The pity of it is that they are the ones who are losing by their ridiculous attitudes.

I'd prefer to keep the thread open so suggestions can still be made. That being said, this thread has gotten off topic far too much.
