Mail Alert

If possible, can we have some indication that we have messages waiting to be read in mail.linuxquestions.net in the My LQ area? Some brief alert like "x unread mails" OR "New Mail".

Check your mail options. There is an option to receive an alert via a different account. It's in Options, under Mail Handling (middle column), Email Notification. Also, LQ mail is dealt with externally, so jeremy doesn't have a great deal of control.

Yes, I am aware of the email notification... I thought this "Online Notification" feature would save the effort of logging to the default mail account to check for alerts.

Well, if it is unimplementable, have to live with email notifications ... Hello Email Notifications. :)

If you are prepared to pay for it, the mail system does allow for POP3 access. But the free version doesn't.

Well, mails on LQ are mostly for some off LQ support or an additional question to what was resolved or in the process of getting resolved.

So a POP3 facility isn't quite what I would go for. And as I said, I will live with email notifications.

Unfortunately I don't have full control of the lq.net mail system (and therefore can't build an API for this).
