LQ search engine

Hi Guys!

Not sure whether this is the right place
to issue a request :) but I'll just go for it!

I was wondering whether it would be possible
to have some sort of AND-clause for the search
form that allows to search for a keyword
and a user-name ...

To give an example:

I do remember that That_Guy had a good solution for
such and such problem, I'd like to be able to
put "such and such" in the keywords field, and
"That_Guy" in the user-name field to get a narrower
match.

It would be quite cool if I also could narrow the matches
for threads by user by selecting whether the person
started a thread or whether he participated (some of
us here are VERY "productive" ;}).

'nuff rabbiting ;)

Cheers,
Tink

you can't search on wether someone started it specifically, but you can search for a user and a keyword at the same time already no problem. is that what you meant?

Sort of ... but it doesn't quite work like I'd want it to :)

For instance this thread won't show up if
I search for netware and Tinkster. I like to follow-up
on my posts, but do not necessarily repeat the keywords
from the question.

so basically expadning the scope for the search to go through the entire thread, not just each individual post? i get it. it would be possible i assume, but would neeed to be implemented in a more involved way i'd expect. i'm sure jeremy will be able to comment soon.

Hi Chris,

and that pretty much sums it up :}

Either that, or I'll have to fall-back into
what I've been trained on for hotline-
queries... regurgitate what the problem
was :D [or start quoting excessively ;}]

Cheers,
Tink

Tinkster,

Thanks for the suggestion. I agree that searching for netware and Tinkster should give that thread as a result. I will see what I can do.
