LQ Posts and Editing: What's up with double newlines?

I seem to be seeing double newlines be added.

Such as if I do a Quick Reply to a thread, I usually start typing in that window, and then I view the Preview many times to make sure it looks as I'd like it to, and there were no errors using things like BB codes, etc.

And when I preview it, sometimes I see double newlines, or triple ones.

So I go back and fix it.

Haven't done a new thread in quite some time. I'm in what appears to be an Advanced Edit mode already. Which I've confirmed by doing a CTRL-B and seen bold text without having typed the tags for it, or seen the tags appear for my typing pleasure.

So now, I'll preview this and see what happens. (Either case, my question/complaint is that I'm seeing extra newlines added to my Quick Replies)

Upon preview, it did it again, so I'll leave it that way.

Definitely seeing this with Firefox in Linux.

Testing to see if I get double newlines.

How far down is this?

Edit: No, I'm not experiencing this (Firefox 62.0, Linux Mint 19 MATE). Note that in relation to the OP, I can't preview Quick Replies, only ordinary replies (the Preview button isn't there) - is there something I'm missing?

Edit 2: Can someone who is experiencing the problem provide some defined steps to replicate this problem so that I can try to emulate it?

Trying this from my phone.

I don't have my laptop with me.

Seems to not happen with an Android phone.

I've seen this happen from time to time, but without consistency. I've seen it more often when I compose the rare blog post or add something to the LQ calendar.

Firefox v. 60.2 on Slackware 14.2. (And it didn't happen with this post.)

I do not have too many new lines in Torbrowser, based on a Firefox 60.x and checked with a new Firefox 62.2, too. But neither there.

Let's see if it happens to me with Firefox 60.1.0esr in CentOS 6.

One empty line precedes this one in this quick reply post.

[EDIT] No problem seen.

When I encounter this, I usually click to edit the post and take out the extra lines.

It's clearly a glitch of some sort, but it's so random and sporadic that tracking it down is likely near impossible.

Turns out I see it from Firefox when using Windows, but not from Firefox using Mint.

I'd say it is odd versions of Firefox.

I have version 57.0 on my Mint and 62.0 on my Windows system.

It appears to have stopped doing this.

I'll mark as Solved. At least on the systems and browsers I'm using.
