LQ Login Getting Confused with Cookies

I apologize for the title of this post; I couldn't think of a good succinct title.

It sometimes happens that when I log on to this site my browser still has some old cookies from this site (not terribly surprising). But at least some of the time this causes problems. For example, a few moments ago I logged in and everything appeared fine. But when I clicked MyLQ, I got the message "You are not logged in or you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons: ..." along with a new login box. This situation will repeat until I clear the LQ cookies, at which point everything works normally. This last time I cleared cookies I noticed that some (all?) of the LQ cookies had what appeared to be duplicates in the cookie manger. For example, two cookies that the cookie manager identified as "bbpassword."

I suppose it could be a problem with my browser, but I don't remember having problems like this on other sites. I am using a Mozilla 1.4 browser. (Yes, it is an old browser on an old system. But one I will probably be using it for a while.) This, of course, isn't a serious problem, but it is annoying. So this time I finally decided to see if the problem could be fixed.

Are you checking the "Remember Me" box?

Yes. That is its default and I don't normally touch it.

Unless you're switching between http and https, this is usually caused by a broken proxy server or cache in between you and the LQ servers.

I didn't realize until now that LQ had https access. I am running Privoxy, but that shouldn't be messing with cookies. I'll try disabling it the next itme I have the problem. Thanks.
