LQ Code Upgrade

I'm happy to announce that the pending code upgrade that has been mentioned recently was performed this morning. So far things look good, but if you notice any bugs or odd things happening, please let us know ASAP. This upgrade lays the foundation for some upcoming planned new features at LQ, so stay tuned. On that note, if there's something you'd like to see implemented here, now is a great time to speak up. I'd like to once again thank david for his continued dedication to helping improve LQ.

the quick reply box doesn't update the screen instantly jer... just returns to the edit box. reload the page and it's there though.

The quick reply box seems to work normally for me - can you try a shift refresh?

i've done it on a few different threads now. underneath it temporarily says "Posting Quick Reply - Please WaitPosting Quick Reply - Please Wait" (a bug in itself i'd wager) then that dissappears and nothing more happens. FF 2.0.0.6. oddly (maybe) doesn't refuse to let me post the same message again, just behaves exactly the same, but doesn't add the next post. hopefully that much is a feature.

I'm experiencing the exact same behavior, but it's not every time, just some times.

also seems to be a fair few css / style issues, just nigles but kinda ugly ones. lots of borders far too close to others, like the bottom of the "options" box in the quick reply. only 1 px from the next border, which itself is of a different, clashing, style.

Also... could the Posting Rules box be nudged over to the side panel? seems a waste of space where it is.

It was likely cache related for the QRB. The posting rules does take up a bit of space, but the right nav bar would be an odd place for it IMHO. It can be minimized, FWIW.

How do i get rid of the smilies options. It is making the respond box very small i said before it was { } but really its about {............} this big and it just looks weird after i post the message everything looks ok but ahhhhhh it just drives me crazy
i cant only fit 4 letters before it goes to next line.
If i preview the message before sending it looks ok.

The editor box is considerably smaller now for me also, due to a duplicate of the smilies panel which is now on the right side. On my screen the editor box appears about half the size of the actual messages on the board now.

two smilie sets to choose from

This is odd... I have two sets of smilies to choose from (EDIT: as well as the person above) (the "advanced" posting, not the quick reply obviously.) only the left hand side is clickable- both are animated. <-- test of smilie.

Trivial thing and I don't know if it relates to this upgrade or was part of some other decision, but I searched and couldn't turn up any other mention of it - was the 'distribution' field supposed to disappear from the post sidebar? (Registered,Location,Posts)

-- Another thing - the Zero Reply Threads view shows moved threads as having '-' posts in them. However, if the code update was yesterday, I don't know why anything related to it would be showing up today. I didn't notice either of these phenomena yesterday.

I was going to post a screen shot, but titanium_geek's symptom is identical to mine.

In addition, I have just noticed that all of the "Insert Link" buttons have stopped functioning, though I can still use the "Wrap" buttons.

Also, is my memory failing, or didn't the background color for text which had been wrapped alternate so that it was different from the background color of the message itself? Now I am seeing blue "Code" or "Quote" boxes on everything, which just looks...off to me.

EDIT:

Wow, I can't believe I didn't notice that sooner. I don't know if it is intentional, but I don't see the "Distribution" line anymore either.

Upon editing this post I have found that I have to click "Edit" twice to actually edit a post. The first click does nothing, the second click opens up an advanced editor (rather than the editor which allowed you to change the post without having to leave the message list). This is 100% repeatable, and happens every time I try and edit a post. It could be something on my end, but no other site is behaving that way for me.

In Opera (9.22) the smilies box covers the entire edit window when composing messages. I mean all of it!
I only seems to happen in Opera. Konqueror and Epiphany seem to be fine.
But even in Epiphany the editor window has become narrower with the smilies bix duplicated on the right side of the edit window.
