LQ Calendar--possible issue with post recurring events.

Two months running now I've tried to add the Tidewater Unix User Group (first Thursday of the month) to the LQ calendar and set it as a recurring month for the first Thursday of the month for N months. (I'm setting it for N months because, in August, we sometimes have a special Saturday meeting).

Both times, the item for the current month posted properly, but nothing appeared on the calendars for the succeeding months. (I did refresh the page.) I do note that the header for the item says,

Quote:
This event occurs on the First Thursday of every 3 month(s).
Is it intended that recurring events update the calendars for the following months in which they are set to recur or is the note what's intended?

Thanks.

Recurring events only recur until the "End" date for the event has been reached. For the event in question, that is May 7th 2015. If you change the End date to a future date more than one recurrence duration away (in this case 3 months) it will appear on the calendar as you're expecting.

Thanks.

Just to make sure I'm clear on this:

In the case of my LUG, the meeting starts at 7:30 p., May 7, and ends at about 9:30 p., May 7, but, to set up a recurring event, I have to set the end of the range as, for example, 9:30, July 2.

As the dialog is currently structured, it appears that that would create a single event starting at 7:30 p., May 7, and ending at 9:30 p., Jul 2, rather than a discreet two-hour event that repeats at a specified interval.

I don't want to experiment with calendar tonight, when I have nothing to add and could blow it up for no good reason, but it's possible that the dialog or the instructions for using it could bear some clarification.

Also, given the far-too-infrequent usage the calendar gets, I would consider this a very low priority item. I'm quite happy to enter my events every month.

In any event, I'll give it a shot month and keep better notes.

Once again, thanks. And don't let me turn into a nag.

I'd agree the UI could be improved, and if you look at how it's laid out at AQ/CQ, I think it has been.

Thanks.

And thanks for creating this site and keeping it alive all these years. AFAIC, it's the friendliest Linux place on the inner webs.
