Login times out while writing long message and then still can't submit message
 

I had to login a 2nd time after writing a long message and previewing/submitting it. After logging in again, a web page says to backspace back to the message. I could accomplish this, but I still couldn't send the reply.

I had to go back to the original post, reply to it, and then paste my previous message before I could send it. The web master should address this problem if it can be fixed or increase the login time if that can be done.

This has occurred twice in the last several days.

P.S - I usually copy and paste my web form messages into a text document that I keep on my desktop before sending or previewing them. I do this so I don't loose all my hard work, unless I forget to copy and paste. Sometimes I just copy into clipboard, but that can cause problems. I can forget and then do something like copy and paste the link I want and still loose all my hard work. So just like using a turning signal in a vehicle all the time, just so I don't forget to use the turn signal, I try to paste forum messages into that text document. My wish list includes louder turning signal sounds in my vehicle, so that I know they are still blinking after changing lanes, etc. :-)I don't understand why they don't have adjustable volume for the turn signal alarm. It must be those used low end vehicles I purchase.

Login just timed out on this message, but after logging in, all was well. Now, on reflection, my previous problems were with longer messages. After relogging in when submitting the messages, there was a "Proceed" button. I was about to click the "Proceed" button on this last message, when the submit operation completed successfully. Perhaps on my longer messages I could have waited longer before clicking the "Proceed Button".

However, the problem I described in the first post applies after clicking the "Proceed" button before the automatic redirect.

Are you checking the "Remember Me" box and allowing all cookies from LQ? If so, you should not be seeing this issue.

It could be because I was then and am now at a public Wifi. I loose connection on and off and occassionally have to manually reconnect during message writing. However, I always make sure I have a connection with a quick browser test in another browser tab before clicking the submit button.

I'm using Firefox (version is different on the different distos I log into). Some of my distros are not updated from initial install due to some testing I am doing. Thus, Firefox could be several versions.

I can't be sure if "Remember Me" box was checked at that time nor if I was allowing all cookies, though I assume this would be the setting. Right now, I am using a fresh install of Mandriva and those settings were the default settings.

Obviously there too many variables involved here for further analysis. I'll post again if I determine the circumstances that caused it.

I am replying quickly because I did have to login again to send that last message.

Did your reply mean that I should not have to relogin or that after relogging in, the submit should proceed smoothly.

I did see the "proceed" button again, but of course remained patient and did not click it.

I suspect that if I, or perhaps anyone else, clicks that "Proceed" button, the problem I intially discussed may recur.

OK, that very last post was short, and it did not take very long to write, and I did not have to re-login after clicking the submit button.

Hope I'm not annoying anyone.

The proceed button should not impact this in any way.
