First of all, you double posted and you asked a question right in the middle of a thread that has nothing to do with your problem, hence you hijacked a thread.

Wow, I'm so proud....

So many people have made this possible

I'd like to thank my mom and dad.
and of course the phone company.

Bill Gates I guess deserves a big thank-you for his ceaseless efforts to piss me off.

If I only new what to do now.... man prize, google, should I start a new thread? :D

I'm sure I'll find out what to do around here some where.

MasterC 05-29-2003 12:19 PM

Use fortune to randomly choose for you. Create a text file containing the choices for the prize, the list should look something like this in the file:
1. Mandrake 9.0
%
2. Mandrake 8.2
%
3. Redhat
%
4. RMS book

And then to get it to be readable by fortune:
strfile filename filename.dat
This creates a file (filename.dat) that is readable by fortune. Now run fortune against it:
fortune /home/user/filename
And it will randomly select the prize for you :D

Cool

Fortune. I actually just went through quite a few hoops to get fortune installed on my gentoo system. If you have fortune installed you should have the strfile as well:
Code:

bash-2.05a$ whereis strfile
strfile: /usr/bin/strfile /usr/man/man8/strfile.8.gz /usr/share/man/man8/strfile.8.gz

You can get it from:
http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/mirrors/N...rtune/strfile/
OR, since it's probably on your box if you install fortune, here's the BSD-Games from slackware (in it's source form):
ftp://ftp-linux.cc.gatech.edu/pub/Li...e/y/bsd-games/

Cool
