linuxquestions.org non-ssl authentication

I was just wondering, does anybody knows why linuxquestions.org doesn't authenticate the user logins through ssl (https) ? Is there any good reason for this ?

perhaps a better question is why would a simple technical forum NEED ssl? ssl just encrypts traffic between the browser and the server, but linuxquestions isn't a high security area like an online banking site so ssl would rather be overkill. even facebook doesn't use ssl and probably not myspace either, no need.

ps this probably belongs in website comments questions/suggestions (or whatever that section is called)

It does. We all have the option of using both http and https. I log in from my home PC so use http, but if I ever use an untrusted PC I use https.

Thank you all !

I just replaced http://.... for https://www.linuxquestions.org and it just works flawlessly. :D

Yeah, I've been using SSL on LQ for years. BTW, I'm moving this to LQSF.

SSL is good for protecting your password on login, of course!

It is great to see this on LQ! Thanks!
