Talking LinuxQuestions is a GREAT community

/* LinuxQuestions.org is a corporation so it should be LinuxQuestions.com.
The "community" is just a front for LinuxQuestions.org to get all of their money.
Just saying,if it really WAS a community you could delete threads, and not boasting about all of their legal corporations like LQ Jobs and LQ Domains or Hosting.
I am going to find more evidence. */

What a strange post...

I can assure you that LQ are not paying me

Also, most forums do not allow deletion of threads and I find LQ Jobs to be a useful addition to the site; if only I had some actual qualifications

I have merged two of your rather bizarre posts so that you don't duplicate post. The only person who earns any money at all from this site is Jeremy, and he earns through advertising revenue and any offered sponsorships. Despite the worthlessness of this thread, you will note that it is still open. It does skirt the boundaries of decency somewhat but as there is not a direct personal attack, it may stay open. This is not a homogeneous community and we are aware that there are a wealth of different opinions and ideas here. As long as you stay within the rules there is no problem.

I assume that the name is either a dig against LQ or a weak bid to get us closed down when your posts are picked up by Google?

I second that, I am not getting paid either.

Anyways, of course LQ has to have some ways to make money, unless the OP wants to come forward and pay for the hosting costs of this site and the work that has Jeremy done to get The Questions Network as big as it is now and keep it running.
Also, if you think you have a good reason for a thread to be deleted just contact a moderator or Jeremy and we will see what we can do about it.

I hate it to let you down on that, but since your post doesn't violate any of our rules there is absolutely no reason to change any part of it.

As has been mentioned before, members cannot delete threads as there was a high occurrence of new members deleting threads after they were solved, not understanding that they were useful to other members. As you've noticed, you are able to edit your own threads (up to and including removing all your own content if you'd like; a member deleting their own thread also removes content created by other members, which the community didn't like). I can assure you nothing nefarious is going on there. If you do come across a thread you think should be removed (yours or a other members'), using the "Report" button will bring it to the attention of a mod. Also, for a very long time I funded LQ personally. It's now self supporting, but that's very much by design. I don't want the site to be dependant on me (or any one person) as I'd like it to be sustainable long term. You'll notice that after you post a couple times you see almost no ads, as making money is not our main goal.

OP's potential future in comedy is less than propitious.

I thought I should post this in public rather than to a moderator as it is an observation I think the OP should heed:
When I first saw this thread I though this was a username created in order to appear to be an official of this site. I did look at current posts and I'm not quite as worried but I have to admit I don't see anything trustworthy yet.
But, then, I myself am anonymous and largely free to post and notice that moderation on this forum is definately working.
Perhaps a suggestion on joining that an account be made personal enough to not look like potential phishing?

Thanks for the feedback @273. It probably makes sense to disallow /linuxquestions.org/ in usernames moving forward. If any member would be against this, let me know.

When I first saw OPs user name and read the post, I thought it was someone acting on a grudge against the site, perhaps someone who had been banned for, as they say, "reasons."

Jeremy, I think that's a good idea, not just because of this incident, but in general.

I've heard of conspiracy theories about governments, law enforcement, the military, the news media, professional sports, the entertainment industry, ...

OK, you made a joke. Well, it didn't go over well. Let's see if you can make something of yourself other than class clown.
