Jeremy's blog + reader account == too much trouble

Hi Jeremy,

I understand the need for signing up before posting comments on your blog, but requiring e-mail confirmation just was too much of a bother. I think disabling email confirmation on blog reader accounts is the way to go. It might help get your blog more comments and interaction.

Just a little suggestion.

Well, LQ itself does require the same thing. Looking deeper though, I don't even think the solution I am using for my personal blog offers that option.

Yes. I realized that. I got redirected to a blogging site to register.

I can understand why some people might be reluctant to sign up though.

Thanks for your clarification.

What do you use, Jeremy? Do you pay for it?

jeremy 08-03-2005 09:35 AM

It's is a pay service that I intended to "demo" for a month a long time back. I just never switched. At some point it's likely I'll move to Wordpress, which is what LQ Radio runs.

Yes, Wordpress is definitely a good choice. I second that! :)

So what is it called? :P

Does anyone else have good experience with other blogging services? I am already using something and if I would change to something else, would I be able to migrate the blog posts?

Reviewing the post makes me wonder if this is kind of OT. :)

Jeremy,

Why not use Drupal?

jeremy 08-03-2005 07:30 PM

Drupal is a bit too heavy for what I do with my blog, IMHO. Wordpress is simple and performant.
