Is it _still_ possible to create account with Tor Browser?
I created this account with Tor Browser.
I tried to make another one but Google says automated queries. I tried many times, many weeks, many identities. Is it possible? I want to stay anonymous. |
Tor is for browsing without leaving identity.
Points: #1 if you are creating accounts you are leaving traces, which somewhat violates the whole point of Tor. Creating additional accounts provides trackers with additional evidence, and may corrupt your very purpose in using Tor! In many areas of security, as in some other disciplines, less is more. The smaller collection of bits you can leave out there the less likely you are to be traced and identified. Tor can help, but use it sparingly and leave as little footprint as possible or you can be tracked and traced despite using Tor. #2 Tor is not designed for you to violate terms of service. Such use gives authorities a valid excuse for attacking Tor, Tor developers, Tor users, and the Tor network. They have enough invalid ones, we do not need to provide them ammunition. |

LQ's TOS say one may not use it anonymously? Haven't seen that.
And why was I able to register in the first place. Quote:
I have tried completing the captcha many times, over the past weeks, and it always ends in "Sorry your device is sending automated queries". |
The Google replies are normal - I use Tor for Google dorks (google hacking) and get the same messages. Tor will only protect your anonymity in transit and will hide your origin, sort of. This is not at all foolproof. Registering using Tor is pointless because whether or not you use your real or fake name and information has nothing to do with the transport mechanism.

You have one account here that obviously works. Why do you need multiples? What are you trying to accomplish? |
Just in case you're interested:

All this does not answer my question!
Can I create a LQ account over the TOR network or not? If not, why not? I don't wnat to talk about if anonymity is useful or not! It makes sense to me! And if everything I need for a new account never leaves the TOR network then yes it is anonimuos! |

regarding anonymity: either you identify yourself (by a user/passwd) or not (= be anonymous), but cannot do both in the same time. That is just nonsense. |

Use an email address created in and access only through the TOR browser, passwords that aren't used elsewhere, obviously do NOT use your real name. That's anonymous at least within the constraints of the tor network itself. I don't feel the need to do that so absolutely, but I understand why people want it. You all just seem to criticise OP's conviction and/or technical knowledge, skirting the actual question completely: Quote:
I hope jeremy has some answers here. |

TOR is not completely anonymous (yes, that's how you spell it). See this web site, which has good info on privacy and Tor. https://restoreprivacy.com/tor/.

Can it see my IP address when I log in with TOR Browser? Quote:
My only concern is to hide my IP address. Quote:
I just want to keep my IP address anonymous from Linuxquestions, I am not interested in the CIA FBI. By the way, I don't like to be compared to child molesters and terrorists. It seems that you all do just that because I want to keep my location secret. |
Pretty sure no one compared you to a pedophile or terrorist - chill on the paranoia there OP. Linuxquestions is the least of your worries, at least here in the US. To each his/her own though.
For the truly paranoid, run Tor through a VPN: start the VPN service then establish a Tor connection using a Whonix VM for example. I've done this and it's a tad slow but works fine and hides the Tor traffic from your ISP. |
