Iran IP's are banned

It's a long time that Iran IP's are banned by LQ. The LQ doesn't even open from these IP's. (Now I've opened LQ using IP changer, Which is not a good way to access forum)
I've asked Mr.Jeremy, the domain owner and he told me:

Quote:

While we don't block entire countries, we do block individual
IPs/netblocks due to abuse issues.
But, It would be appreciated that if I know what's exactly the problem, "abuse".
In fact I used LQ many times. As you know the default forum for Slackware is LQ's forum.

Would you mind help me with that?

jamison20000e 09-12-2016 05:05 AM

I'd guess that it's automated so if "threats" come from certain IPs they'd get blocked?

rtmistler 09-12-2016 07:40 AM

Sounds like your service provider and not the country. Perhaps see if there are alternative service providers you could choose.

Spam would be a reasonable guess.

Pretty sure I'd agree that automated type things force this issue. Who or whom is behind those we will be polite and say we don't know.

Could be that some members got into heated words.

jeremy 09-12-2016 08:26 PM

The most likely culprit for a temporary IPs/netblock blockage is obvious automated persistent spam attacks.

So, how does skype work for you?

Quote:

Iran – mixed reports about Skype being available. Seems the connectivity is often interrupted, making the service unusable.

Is definitely cool that you found your way here tho... ;)

Thanks a lot and reply

Thanks a lot for all your sincere replies.

I have changed my service provider and it was the same for them.

I think its more than temporary, Or maybe the spam is continued. :( .
I think its maybe because of cracked software. I like to find out!

I haven't used skype for a long time. After changing dependency to pulse audio.

Thanks a lot for welcoming us. I really feared that LQ doesn't like us to use it.
In fact, I think this problem would be from somethings like software cracks .

Also my IP range is now: 151.245.170.0/24

For the record, everyone is welcome to use LQ. I'm not entirely clear what you mean by "problem would be from somethings like software cracks", but I can confirm the IP range you listed isn't being blocked by us.

Thanks a lot Mr. Jeremy. I heard that some software cracks, which are mostly used in windows computers, do dos attacks to servers.
If you tested the IP, Then, I got a traceroute to LQ. But I don't understand it well:

Code:

Have you examined whether or not you have difficulties getting to other sites? Or is LQ unique? Not sure LQ can do much more than any other site if there are troubles with either an ISP or a geographical region.

jeremy 09-19-2016 01:12 PM

It appears our network provider may be blocking some portion of IP space "that originate from countries that are subject to U.S. trade and economic sanctions". I'm looking into it further now.

As Jeremy sais, there are other sites too, like Mathworks (They are many) But they write something that they are to banning.

I hope that your network let us use LQ. LQ is about Linux that is somewhere for having understanding and friendship.
How ever US tried ban the most profiting websites. I think most of them are from Oracle (Like android and the websites from Google).
But anyway, Linux is different from all.
The most important reason that I started using Linux was because of the avoidance from banning (about 5 years ago). Which is told in GPL.
