Intro Thread

Apparently I have to post in order to be allowed to reply, and although I have posted on one of your groups it apparently doesn't count because it is the wrong kind of group or something.

If this doesn't work, I shall be back with a real question!

Welcome to LQ. Please don't hijack an unrelated thread when making a new post. I've moved your post into its own thread.

My welcome also to LQ.

Do you remember what you tried to do & what error msg. you got? Perhaps you tried to include a URL in your 1st post. We have to disallow those as an anti-spam measure.

Lisi,

Do you still need help getting your original post to "take"? -- Just ask

No, thanks. It worked.

I thought that I started a new discussion. I know about not hijacking threads.

Perhaps some more helpful notes under "help" on the pure mechanics of how to reply. "click on the reply button" doesn't help much when there is no reply button there. Telling people to click on a non-existent button doesn't count as helping.

Since this isn't a thread, it is an attempt to get your system to let me exist in the group to which I want to belong, I don't see why it matters which section it is under. It could just have been deleted - provided that I was marked as existing.

This quirk of this forum, that you have to post to be allowed to reply (!), and the quirk of posting to some groups not counting as posting, both need explaining to newbies. As does a constant injunction, with no explanation, to post when I had already posted several times.

I think the confusion that is coming in here is that, to be a member of or post to a Social Group you first have to post at least once in the forum.
