increase the time interval for being unable to make duplicate posts

When you submit a post, there is a certain amount of time--I forget how long, but I'm sure it's seconds--in which LQ prevents you from submitting it again. Obviously this is to prevent double posting (probably from clicking the button repeatedly). But I noticed that that can be defeated accidentally. My internet connection got hung up, so my post was taking a long time to submit. I started doing something else for several minutes while waiting; when I looked up, the next page still hadn't loaded. So I started clicking submit repeatedly. This led to an accidental duplicate post, because the first post was actually up even though the site still hadn't finished loading.

Wouldn't this be prevented if LQ increased the time interval in which a user can't repeat the post?

Thanks for the feedback. We have no plans to increase the dupe detection much beyond what it currently is on the current platform, due to other consequences the change would have. While there should usually be no reason to click submit a second time, in the cases where this happens you can use the report functionality and a mod will remove the dupe ASAP. The next version of the site should be a little smarter in how this is handled.
